Moving the Swordfish on water is a cautious and exacting process. It works, but it's not made for that, not really. Even so, it would only take a handful of minutes to get to that north side of the island if they wanted.
But why hurry? Why not run on island time too? So they take the slowest, most leisurely trip along the coastline: all the way up and around past a few littler islands to the very northern tip of Eleuthera where the map shows caves. They might never get another chance to do this, just like with so many things, and so far they both seem to be enjoying the hell out of this trip.
And that's an understatement. It's pure bliss, pure luxury.
This time there are no abandoned docks; he brings the Swordfish up on the beach. It's white sand, not pink, but just as beautiful in its own way and just a little further to the north the terrain changes; Spike can see where the sudden and abrupt hills would lead to caves down by the shore.
This time, he's definitely bringing his gun. Just in case there are survivors down there. And he has to admit: he likes the little element of danger that possibility provides. Before they get out of the Swordfish, he turns to Beth, eyes gleaming. "A kiss for luck?"
