She gently shifts Junior in her arms, buying herself just a second to gather her thoughts about where to start with this.
What she doesn't want to do is launch into it with something like I probably should've told you this before or I've been keeping something from you or anything like that. One of the worst case scenarios is that Hero would think she's been able to get back to the bar at some point -- or maybe even continuously -- all this time, and that's really not something she wants to make so much as flicker through Hero's mind. A way back to the bar, however temporary, is something she would've told Hero about pretty much immediately.
So she'll tell her the story.
"Do you remember the House of Arch?" Her voice, already pretty low, gets even quieter. "Sending messages by owls and moving from room to room by portrait and Tom and Door, the people responsible for it?"
