Adventures come in all shapes and sizes. Big and little, grown-up and kid. He'll teach Beth Junior to swim in the lake and kick ass with some kiddie Kung Fu. Show her the horses in the stables if they're still there, and the flowers in the greenhouse. Introduce her to Ingress and any other little kids. Those qualify as kid adventures.
The kinds he has in mind for his very own Beth are a little different. They have everything to do with a little less adventure than they've had before. "No Israeli army. No hair spray and lighters, except for the special effects." Sure, the bar has its perils, but so does Paris.
"Sour apple martinis. Food on demand." Then his eyes light up before he can stop it happening. "Potechi."
"What's 'techi?" Junior's little brows knit together. "Is it good or yucky?"
All he can do is laugh. "You'll see." She'll see about a lot of things.
"Anything else we need to do here, Slim?" No last-minute regrets, no changes of mind? No second thoughts? Shit, if they miss it, they can always come right back. "Junior, you have your little spaceship?"
